Every Meaningful Journey Has a Next Step
For each of us our faith journeys will be very personal, and very different. But whether you’re just exploring faith or have been a Christian for 25+ years, every one of us has a next step.
We encourage recording these steps for three reasons:
- to measure how we’re growing spiritually
- to celebrate progress together
- to help document our individual journeys
What’s your next step?

Let’s continue to journey together
We believe the steps we take on our journey of faith can be grouped into four main types…
First Steps

Are for those exploring faith or finding their feet at Rayleigh Baptist Church:
- Community: finding your place in the RBC family
- Exploring: early building blocks as you investigate faith
- Committing: foundational steps as you begin to follow Jesus
Next Steps

Are for those moving forward on their journey of faith:
- Deepen: going further into an area of faith and practice
- Deploy: discovering how God wants to use you in new ways
- Disciple: coming alongside others on their journey
Ongoing Steps

Were once First or Next Steps that have since become regular rhythms of life:
- Gather: meeting regularly for celebration and fellowship
- Grow: daily and weekly practices that build faith over time
- Give: participating actively in the life of the church and community
- Go: sharing your faith and helping others take their first steps
- Gaze: making space for God through prayer, praise and rest
- GRAPE: living out RBC’s five values: Generosity, Risk-taking, Authenticity, Participation and Expectation
Leader Steps

Are for those growing as leaders and investing in the growth of others:
- Equip: building the knowledge and skills your leadership requires
- Engage: putting leadership into practice in real contexts
- Empower: developing and releasing others to lead
