“The Bible is God’s book of promises,
and unlike the books of men,
it does not change or get out of date.“
Billy Graham
“Nobody ever outgrows Scripture;
the book widens and deepens with our years.“
Charles Spurgeon
The Bible is the most widely read book in human history, and also one of the most misunderstood. Many people pick it up expecting something like a rulebook, or a history textbook, and then quietly put it back down when it turns out to be neither. What it actually is takes a little longer to explain — and the reward for understanding it is considerable.
BibleProject have produced three short animated videos that together give you the clearest possible starting point. They will not replace reading the Bible itself. What they do is hand you a map before the journey begins.
Watch the three short videos below to get started. At the bottom of the page there’s a link to the whole playlist of 19 videos for you to work through at your own pace.

How to Read the Bible
How to Read the Bible The Bible contains poetry, law, prophecy, letters, history and apocalyptic writing, and reading them all the same way is one of the most common mistakes people make — this video explains the differences and gives you the tools to approach each type well. [1:10]
What is the Bible?
A clear, honest account of where the Bible came from, how it took shape across centuries and cultures, and why Christians across different traditions regard it as Scripture — the kind of background that transforms a confusing ancient book into something worth taking seriously. [5:47]
